What is a Swash?
A Swash is an advanced toilet seat that offers fresh and hygienic cleansing for men, women, and children. Most of our Swash bidets use a single retractable nozzle that sprays in multiple positions and widths. Our Swash 1000, 1400, and EcoSeats use two retractable wash wands for posterior and feminine areas.
While our Swash bidets are made for everyone, those who are elderly or who have limited mobility or other limitations can especially benefit from using the Swash.
How does a Swash work?
The Swash replaces your existing toilet seat. Unlike traditional versions, it has a heated seat and delivers a warm-water wash with temperature, pressure, and nozzle position adjustability (features vary by model.) All functions are easily operated at the turn of a dial, at the push of a button with a wireless remote control, or on a sidearm panel adjacent to your right hand. Some models include a warm air dryer for a complete "hands-free" experience, a deodorizer, or two self-cleaning, retractable wands, one for the posterior wash and another for the feminine wash.
Is a Swash safe and reliable?
All electronic Brondell Swash bidet seats are either cETL or cUL approved for electrical safety in the United States and Canada. Most Swash models are UPC (Universal Plumbing Code) certified by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) for the US market, and some models are cUPC certified, which includes the Canadian market.
What are the differences between the Swash models?
A model comparison chart detailing the differences between models can be found here.
Is a Swash easy to install?
Our Swash products are designed to be easily installed by the user. A standard installation can take as little as 20 minutes. Our bidets will come with everything needed for a standard installation. Check out our Installation Videos or our Compatibility & Installations FAQ.
How do I know if a bidet will fit on my toilet?
You can find our Fit & Compatibility guide for all of our bidets here.
How do I operate the Swash?
Brondell’s electronic Swash bidet features are easily controlled by a wireless remote control or sidearm panel. Consult your owner's manual to see which custom features your particular bidet seat includes, and use the remote control or side-arm control function to select and operate the perfect wash experience for your needs.
How do I operate the Heated Seat?
The user controls the heated seat feature via remote/arm control. It can be set to one of several temperature settings or simply turned off. Some Swash bidet seats also feature an Eco Mode that sets the heated seat function to the low setting until the seat sensor is triggered by a user.
What is the duration of the wash?
Pressing the ‘Rear’ or ‘Front’ button on the remote control starts the 2-minute wash cycle. The ‘Stop’ button will stop the cycle at any point.
How long does the warm water last?
Depending on your Swash model, the bidet will either have a warm water tank reservoir, a hybrid heating system, or an instant ceramic heating system.
- Warm Water Tank Reservoir: Swash seats equipped with a Standard warm water tank reservoir maintain warm water for 20-40 seconds of the wash cycle, depending on the temperature of the incoming water supply. After that, the water temperature starts to decrease and then goes cold once warm water is depleated. Once the wash cycle stops and the tank is refilled, it takes about 3-4 minutes to reheat the tank to the desired temperature.
- Hybrid Heating System: Swash seats that are equipped with a hybrid warm water tank reservoir maintain warm water for the duration for 60-90 seconds of wash cycle depending on the temperature of the incoming water supply. After that, the water temperature will start to decrease. Once you stop the cycle, the tank will refill and heat. It takes about 3-4 minutes to refill and reheat the tank to the desired temperature.
-
Instant Ceramic Heating System: Swash seats equipped with built-in instant Ceramic heating systems heat water on demand (in approximately 10 seconds) and provide "endless" warm water washes.
What is the difference between the front and rear washes?
The front wash offers a feminine cleanse, while the rear wash offers a posterior wash for both men and women. While both wash cycles feature an adjustable nozzle, the user will still be required to readjust for the wash to reach the right area, depending on your personal needs.
Do the wands ever "get in the way"?
No, the wash wands are only extended during the cleaning cycle. At all other times, they are housed inside the unit to avoid being contaminated. As a further safeguard, the wands clean themselves with a high-pressure spray of water before and after each use.
Where is the Swash manufactured and serviced?

What is your Return and Warranty policy?
Our Warranty policy can be found here, and our Returns policy can be found here.
Is the Swash covered by Medicare or Medicaid?
Not directly with Brondell. You may be able to get coverage, particularly with the state-level Medicaid, but you should check with your doctor and/or insurance provider for more information. If you have a medical condition that a hygienic bidet toilet seat can help, then your doctor may be able to prescribe a Swash bidet for you and you may be eligible to receive insurance coverage for it. Please contact your doctor to see what options are best for you.
Where can I find answers to my installation questions?
You can find Frequently Asked Questions and answers regarding installation and compatibility here.
What are the interior hole dimensions of the bidet seat?
The interior hole of each Swash bidet ranges by size. The dimensions listed are of the longest and widest sections of the seat opening.
Round: 11” L x 8” W
Elongated: 12” L x 8” W
What does the seat sensor do?
All of Brondell's electric Swash bidets are equipped with a safety sensor. This ensures a wash does not start unless you are seated. The sensors on the bidet seat are not weight sensors but sensors that detect when they have made contact with skin.
We recommend turning off this sensor when using the bidet with children, as they may be too small to make proper contact with the sensor. Instructions for canceling the Seat Sensor Lock Mode on your bidet seat can be found in the Special Operations section of the Owner's Manual.

Will my bidet work with hard water, well water, or softened water?
Yes, however, hard water, well water, and softened water (without Reverse Osmosis filtration) can significantly reduce the lifespan of the product due to hard water deposits that can form. To counter the negative side effects of hard water, we recommend purchasing and installing our inline bidet filters if your home is supplied with hard water. You can find our bidet filters here. Our inline filters can last up to 6 months, depending on your water quality and usage.
What colors are available for the Swash?

Swash S1400 Only: The Swash S1400 is our only product available in white and biscuit. If you are looking to match your new Swash S1400 with an existing toilet, our color recommendations for American Standard, Kohler, and Toto toilets are as follows:
White
- American Standard: White
- Kohler: White
- Toto: Between Colonial White and Cotton (not a perfect match)
Biscuit
- American Standard: Linen
- Kohler: Biscuit
- Toto: Sedona Beige
Do your bidet products come in black?
No.
How do the self-cleaning nozzles work?
The self-cleaning nozzle feature is a special compartment inside the Brondell Swash S1000/S1400. It consists of silver-coated ceramic balls that sterilize the water on contact through silver sterilization. When the Nozzle Cleaning button is pushed (when you are NOT currently using the Swash for self-care), the water is redirected through this compartment and ionized. When this water flows over the stainless-steel nozzles, the nozzles are sterilized on contact.
For all other Swash products, the self-cleaning nozzle feature does not use silver ionization and instead uses hot or cold water to clean the stainless-steel nozzle.
How does the deodorizer work? Is it scented?
The deodorizer is a fan that pulls the air out of the toilet bowl through an activated charcoal filter. The filter does not add any additional fragrances; it just neutralizes the odors in the toilet bowl.
What is Eco Mode?
All Swash Electric bidets feature an Eco Mode. The Eco Mode only affects the seat heating part of the bidet. If the seat temperature is set to Medium or High, the seat temperature will drop to Low. If the seat temperature is set to Low, there will be no change. Turning off Eco Mode will enable the seat to be on the Medium or High-temperature setting even when the user isn’t using the bidet and will be the desired temperature when the user sits down on the seat. Instructions for setting or canceling Eco Mode can be found in the Special Operations section of the Owner’s Manual.
Please note that if your bidet has a Standard or Hybrid water tank, the Eco Mode feature will also lower the water temperature to the lowest possible setting.
How do I clean/maintain my bidet?
Swash seats are made of germ-resistant ABS plastic. They should be cleaned with a soft, wet cloth and a gentle cleaner. DO NOT USE strong chemicals to clean Swash products. Do not leave chemicals in contact with the seat for extended periods of time, as it will cause physical damage to the finish.
Although Swash wands are self-cleaning, Brondell recommends the nozzles be cleaned with a soft brush monthly or as needed. Brondell recommends that the removable mesh filter be cleaned on a regular basis.
